No, not the “free” trial versions or those that are ad supported. Full working version. OK, there’s a catch… Not necessarily the ones you are eyeing on like Angry Birds, Infinity Blade etc. However, you’ll be surprised, some of these titles are great quality apps.
So how do I get free games/apps? It’s actually very simple.
Just visit some of these sites that track free apps. These sites track apps that are new or previously chargeable.
Why are the developers doing this? With over 350K apps in the iTunes, it’s not easy for apps to get noticed. Instead of the usual way of advertising, posting on forums, social networking sites etc. Developers can get some good mileage by giving out their app free for a limited time. I think giving it away can help serve a few purpose.
- Building a name that associates to their app.
- Building the app user base, making it easier to sell future offerings
- Gather user comments & ratings to further improve on their app
- Gauge user interest whether the app is saleable by the number of downloads during the “free” period
So if you have visited these sites and download an app which you love or maybe not, give them some honest ratings/comments/feedback for them to make it better. Help spread the word.
